What is Guno?

Guno is a search engine dedicated exclusively to static websites - the simple, fast, and personal sites that represent the original spirit of the web.

Why Static Sites?

In an era of complex web applications and heavy frameworks, static sites offer:

• Speed - No server processing means instant page loads
• Simplicity - Pure HTML and CSS, easy to understand and maintain
• Independence - No databases, no dependencies, just files
• Nostalgia - A return to the creative, personal web of the 90s

What We Index

• Personal homepages and blogs
• Sites built with static generators (Jekyll, Hugo, Eleventy, etc.)
• Hand-coded HTML sites
• Documentation and reference sites

How Sites Get Into the Index

Guno discovers sites two ways. First, anyone can submit their site directly for review. Second, Guno runs its own crawler that automatically follows links from known static web directories, webrings, and community hubs to find sites that have never been submitted. Every site the crawler finds is checked to confirm it is genuinely static before being added. If your site is already in the index and you never submitted it, that is how we found you.
