Guno Is Back — Welcome to The Guno Gazette

From the archive. News and figures reflect the original publication date.

Welcome to the First Issue

Hi, and welcome to the very first issue of The Guno Gazette — a newsletter for the Guno.cc community, written the way newsletters used to be written: plainly, occasionally, and only when there's actually something worth saying.

No algorithm decided you'd see this. You're getting it because you subscribed, and I plan to keep it that way — a few updates a month at most, straight from the source. Site updates, new features, indie web finds, and eventually, once it's off the ground, dispatches from the Guno Site Awards.

Guno Is Back — Actively Maintained Again

If you noticed things had gone quiet around here for a while, you weren't imagining it. I was knocked out by a rough bout of illness that kept me away from the project longer than I would have liked. I'm back now, Guno is actively maintained again, and there's a real backlog of fixes and improvements rolling out.

Thank you to everyone who stuck around, kept submitting sites, and left notes in the guestbook while things were quiet. It mattered.

Say Hello on the New Guno BBS

Guno now has its own message board: bbs.guno.cc. It's brand new and still small, which is exactly the right time to join — come say hello before the regulars show up.

Ten boards are live so far: General Discussion, Static Websites, Indie Web, Say Hello, Creative Corner, Show & Tell, Site Feedback, Bug Reports, Suggestions, and Off Topic. If you've got thoughts on where Guno should go next, Site Feedback and Suggestions are the place.

The Guno Site Awards — Coming Soon

The Guno Site Awards program is being built out right now: six tiers (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Craftsmanship, Spirit of the Web, and Webmaster's Pick), real certificate-style badges, and a public Hall of Fame page for winners to show off.

Submissions are open, but no awards have gone out yet — the program hasn't officially launched. If your site is already in the Guno index, you'll be able to submit it for consideration once it does. We'll announce the launch here first.

By the Numbers

As of this issue, Guno's index holds 310 sites — all static, all indie, all submitted by real people building real corners of the web. That number grows a little every week, and it's still small enough that a single interesting submission can meaningfully move the needle.
