Guno.cc — Search the Static Web Home  |  Browse  |  BBS

Guno is a search engine for the static web — hand-coded pages, personal sites, and small independent corners of the internet that the big search engines mostly ignore. No ads, no tracking, no algorithm deciding what you see. Just a hand-curated, crawler-assisted index of real sites made by real people.

It is built and run by one person, James Hamelton Jr, as a passion project rather than a business. That means Guno does not have a marketing budget, an ad campaign, or a growth team. It has whoever shows up and decides to help.

How You Can Help

None of this requires money or technical skill. The single biggest thing you can do costs nothing but a few minutes:

No wrong way to help Submitting a site or mentioning Guno to one friend does just as much good as anything else on this list. Guno grows one honest recommendation at a time — there is no algorithm to game and no shortcut that matters more than another.
"The static web doesn't need a bigger budget. It needs more people willing to point at it and say, 'here, look at this.'"
