Crawler Improvements In Progress
Posted on 2026-07-19 · by james
I'm currently doing ongoing work on the crawler that helps discover new personal and independent websites for the index. Recent changes have focused on making it more careful and reliable about what it finds, along with some behind-the-scenes infrastructure work.

To be clear: manual submissions remain the preferred way to get your site listed, and every one gets a look. The crawler isn't running on its own in the background — it's operated manually by site staff, who review anything it finds before it's added to the index.

If you run a static or hand-coded site and want it included, submitting it directly is still the fastest and most reliable path.

More updates as this work continues.

Guno Is Back — Actively Maintained Again
Posted on 2026-07-15 · by james
After a short hiatus, I'm back and actively maintaining Guno again. Site submissions, the guestbook, and the bulletin board are all being monitored and kept up to date going forward.

Thanks for your patience during the gap, and thanks for sticking around. If you've been holding onto a submission or a message, now's a good time to send it in — I'll see it.

More updates and polish are coming as I keep working on things behind the scenes.

Recent Improvements to Guno
Posted on 2026-02-16 · by james
Over the past week, Guno has received several important updates to improve both the user experience and site management.

What’s New:

Enhanced Admin Panel - The backend now includes streamlined tools for managing blog posts, news updates, and the site index. Adding and editing content is faster and more intuitive.

Improved Site Search - The search index has been optimized to better handle metadata and provide more relevant results when browsing static websites.

Better Performance - Behind-the-scenes improvements to how Guno processes and updates the directory ensure faster load times and more reliable access across all devices.

These updates support Guno’s core mission: making static websites discoverable while keeping the platform small, fast, and human-scaled.

As always, if you run a static site and would like it included in the index, submissions remain open. Thanks for your continued support.

Index Cleanup and Ongoing Improvements
Posted on 2026-02-14 · by james
Over the past few days, Guno has grown faster than expected as many new sites were added to the index. As part of that growth, I'm taking time to clean up and curate the directory more carefully.

Guno is intentionally small, lightweight, and human-scaled. That means not every site will be indexed at once, and some links may be temporarily removed while the index is reviewed and refined.

This cleanup helps keep search results useful, improves reliability across browsers and networks, and ensures the sites listed here reflect the spirit of the project.

If you run a static website and would like it included, submissions are welcome. Guno will continue to grow slowly and intentionally.

Thanks for browsing, and thanks for the early feedback.
